Tioga vs. ASH ASH scored in the first half with a PK from Lindsey Pharris off a sloppy slide tackle from Tioga in the box. Tioga could not find their stride against a diamond formation from ASH in the first half. With 3 minutes left in regulation play Tioga finally managed to be creative against the ASH defense and Nicky Parker was on the end of a cross from Morgan Burlew to put the tying goal into the net. Morgan Burlew put the winning goal in with 3 minutes left in O.T. and Tioga managed to shut up shop against ASH for the 2-1 win.

The ASH v. Tioga game was a pretty poor match, looking like tennis, with no one maintaining control of the ball, just kicking it back and forth to the other team. The Pharris PK resulted from a takedown in the box of #35 Meagan Reynolds. #9 Pharris had several other scoring opportunities during the game, but shot wide or right to the goalie. ASH lost it's all-district goalie from last year, Hillary Lacroix, to Menard, and forward #17 Melanie Queen did a pretty good job for her first time ever in the net. Tioga's goalie made some excellent saves. Tioga's tying score came with 3 minutes left in regulation on a gorgeous cross by #8 Burlew, from the right hash all the way across the net to the waiting #4 Parker on the left side. Tioga scored in the first ten minute overtime period, then ASH discovered there would be no second OT period according to new district rules. It would not have made a difference, as they couldn't get the ball in the net despite ample opportunities. ASH needs to have some seniors step up and lead this team, or they will be in for a long season.

I have to agree with Mung, it was a bit of a tennis game with far too many long balls which is very dissappointing considering there were quite a few Crossroads Division I prospects out on the field. Not the greatest soccer show but it can only get better! And why cant the LHSAA follow the National High School Association rules. Why are we the only State that has to be different. It's bad enough that our players cannot play for their clubs during the High School season like other States, especially when some of the best College recruiting tournaments are being played in Florida this time of the year. Eventually I can see our top club programs mandate that their players do not play for their High Schools. That's the way most of the top clubs are in the Country anyway and why programs such as the Dallas Sting Soccer Club have so many players go on to play in College. (Plus the fact that all their coaches are more qualified than their High School counter-parts)

However, the announcing at the ASH-Tiogie game was first rate! The music was a bit Euro, but better than the Sam Houston stuff I had to endure last year. Somebody get Mark an AC/DC disc.

Tiogie?? LOL Been working on my intro skills in DeRidder too, plus the girls decided they want music to warm up by. Gotta love AC/DC. Looking forward to seeing you all in DeRidder soon enough! Please no hard names this year lol made it through Pineville without butchering anything though so we will see! Best of luck to all

Lots of luck with some of the names at ASH. Been here awhile and still can't get them right. Even worse, some news ones aren't any better.

ASH girls 3 Pineville girls 0
Pineville has improved since last year. Three seniors scored last night for ASH. Lindsey Pharris first half. Megan Reynolds and Rachel Miller in second half. Mung can do a better recap than I can.

ASH 3-Pineville 0: Pharris(#9) scored early in the first, but her injured foot slowed her and kept her out the second half. Reynolds(#35) looked great, dribbling thru and speeding past the Pineville defense, but could not find the net until the second half. She hit a rocket from the right side into the far post which bounced off it and in, with about 10 minutes left to play. Miller(#21) scored the final goal on a shot that skipped under the goalie a minute later. Pineville never seriously threatened, except on a moon shot that had the ASH goalie almost fall into the net. ASH is still not up to speed, but getting better.

i agree with the statement that Reynolds looked very good last night. I believe she was sick as well and she still ran all over the place, getting back on defense, running at players with the ball, unfortunately I missed the goal but I heard it was quite good. From what I watched, she seemed to have been the spark of the team, several times ASH could have put the game away in the first half but didn't, a lot of players have some fight they just can't seem to put the ball in the net,
