Shouldn't the girls have played first? I thought that the district agreed to play boys first in Monday and girls on Thursdays? Anyway, let us hope we don't have to sit in that much rain anymore this season.

i was at the peabody and deridder game, and i would like to just say that the deridder girls have class. peabody doesn't have a full team of girls, so they always play down. but when the deridder girls came out and played with the same amount the peabody did, i was really impressed. that was awesome. they didn't have to do that, they could've played with 11 people and bashed peabody. the deridder girls have class and that should be one of these things that is seen. kudos to the deridder girls and congrats on the win.
P.S. Merry Christmas to all.

There is no doubt that Deridder showed some real CLASS. I was at the Peabody game and not only did they match them in numbers they showed the Peabody team how the game should be played with good possession and movement off the ball. Credit goes out to the Deridder Coach and I think it has gone a long way in showing this young Peabody team that there is sportsmanship in this district and true class.

To both celnasocafan and curlytlj, we at DeRidder thank you for the kind words, and they have been passed along to a few of the girls, and i am going to print out and show the team at our next game. Both parents and our girls have a lot of respect for our first year coach, and Thurs. night just took it to a new level. I give so much credit to Peabody for playing hard the whole game, and never, ever giving up. To me that shows true class as well.

ASH/Menard good game for Menard as they dominated but heard ASH were missing several key players?

Understand ASH was missing its best player. What's the story? Also heard that Menard has been playing without its top defender. Mung may be right after all, DeRidder seems to be in the drivers seat.

Sadly, I missed ASH v. Menard. I was bowhunting. I hear that they were missing half the team, due to various conflicts, legitimate and otherwise. Perhaps the coaches will be reminding the players about their team commitments before we go to Tioga on Monday.

My daughter said that five starters were not at game due to either injury, family commitments or cheerleading competition. Four others were "no shows". Team played with 12, but kept Menard honest enough that they didn't sub much until late in the game. Stacie Rich (backup keeper) stopped all but five shots. Key players missing made the team shuffle to unfamiliar positions. Personally, i would have been more upset as a Menard coach than ASH coach. Poor shot selection and weak shots. Menard should have scored in double digits and did not play down to make that happen.

Well now that Lindsey Pharris is out with a torn ACL, it seems some players are going to have to really step-up to replace her presence out on the field. The rest of the offensive line consists of Rachel Miller, Megan Reynolds, and Ashton Englesman. I would say these are the only ones with the skills to lead ASH to any victory over the top teams in district. Miller has good ball skills but no speed, Reynolds has the speed but can't hold on to the ball like Miller, and Englesman has amazing crosses and is fast but doesn't get the ball in the net much. These three girls are ASH's only hope to a happy ending to district. I think defensively ASH can hold it down, but without scoring you cannot win a game. So I hope as the holiday comes to an end and the second round of District starts ASH will step up and start winning some games.

i have watched ASH play a couple of times and the one thing that they really miss is a creative midfield player who can actually pass the ball. They had this last year with Bindursky and they have a little girl this year who i think wears the #3 and i think can really play a bit but doesn't see they field much. But they do need something in the center of the field as they just end up with a kick-ball game and no real passing.

Is lindsey ASH's fast forward??? If so that's a huge loss. Hope she has a quick recovery.

SHHS 4 Tioga 2. It was wet but the field drained very very well, so it wasn't a mudball game as you would think. Half was SHHS 2 - 0. Tioga scored on a breakaway with 7 min left and a PK with time up.
