Barbe @ St Thomas More
STM 2 Barbe 1 OT
STM played like the #1 team in the state and controlled most of the game. Half 1-0 and could have been worse. STM scored when the forward makes a move around Barbe Sweeper and creates a 1 on 1 with the goalie. 2nd half Barbe has the wind and plays much better. Barbe scores on a beautiful free kick with 2 minutes to go from 25 yards out that was a rocket by Anne McAtee. Overtime STM has the wind and scores with less than 15 secs to go on a great played ball by Messinger (??spelling).
I have now seen all the top 10 teams from Div I (except Fontainebleau) and without a doubt, STM is the best team I have seen play this year. Very ball controlled offense and very discipline in their attack. Looking forward to the rematch in a couple of weeks at Barbe, should be another great game.
On a side note, I hope the girl that went down in the JV game (#18) is okay. Looked like a serious ankle injury and the Barbe Family will keep her in our prayers.

Recap: First half, Comeaux stayed on Acadiana's side of the field. A lot of the action happened in the midfield with both sides playing a physical game. The half ended 0 - 0. Second half, Bacque scored at the 20 minute mark on a beautiful shot from just outside the box. About 10 minutes later Courtney Blanchard from Comeaux scored with a PK. This left the game tied at 1 - 1 going into the first OT. It remained tied and in the second OT, Acadiana scored off of a corner kick. (I speak for only myself, when I say that I feel that this should not have been a goal. The keeper from Comeaux went up for the ball and the girl from Acadiana knocked her over and the ball went in. I thought that should have been a penalty against Acadiana, but again only my opinion.) Anyway, not that it mattered because 2 minutes later, Acadiana scored again off of a pass from the outside and the forward followed it in.
So in the end Acadiana won 2-1 with one goal for the ref. ;D It was a physical game. Midfield from both teams worked real hard and Comeaux kept Acadiana's defense on their toes.

Barbe 1 Comeaux 0
This was a game that was decided by an own goal. The majority of the game was played between the 18. The weather was a factor due to making the ball quicker when it hit the ground.
Goal by Kim Phelps of Barbe came in the 20th minute. It was ruled an "own goal" by both statisticians.
Comeaux plays at home against Sulphur and Barbe travels to Acadiana.

Being as Barbe lost, again, I doubt a post will be made regarding the evenings proceedings. Besides, I'm sure it was just another fluke.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Who scored for Comeaux against Sulphur and when?
I don't know the names of the Comeaux players that scored but I do remember the times. Sulphur scored first with about 22 minutes left to play in the first half. Halftime score was 1-0 Sulphur. Comeaux scored with 27 minutes left to play in the second half to tie the game at 1-1. Then again with about 30 to 45 seconds remaining in the game. The winning kick came off of a corner, the assit went to #14 Jennifer Zamani. She took the conrer kicks for Comeaux last night.

Being as Barbe lost, again, I doubt a post will be made regarding the evenings proceedings. Besides, I'm sure it was just another fluke. When have you known me not to post following a win or a loss. I guess it is easier to make a smart@$& comment than to give your take of the game so I will give you mine. I thought Acadiana played a much better game last night than in the first meeting. Barbe played flat and looked uninspired most of the game. I thought Barbe played a solid game defensively but must get their offensive game in gear before the start of the playoffs. A few players stood out to me from Acadiana last night. The sweeper, Kristin Gil, Baque, and the freshman center mid. She is the real deal and fills in a hole Acadiana has had the last few years since the graduation of Hoffland. The goal was a nice shot from the 18 and was a rocket the keeper didn't touch and just below the cross bar. Not many shots on goal from either team last night. I will not use the weather as an excuse or the missing Barbe players, the Lady Bucs should be able to win with or without these girls in the lineup. Barbe has a Tuesday match-up with STM and then will be on the road for the playoffs at either West Monroe or Natch Central. Neither team had many shots on goal and Acadiana had better step up the offensive attack once the playoffs hit with a first round match-up with either Fontainebleau or SSA on the road or it will be 1 and done. With the preset playoff brackets, Barbe will play West Monroe/Natch Central and Acadiana will play Fontainebleau/SSA. Makes you wonder who really came out on top last night!! Okay aristotle, not once did I say it was a fluke, I thought this game was very even. Not it is your turn, what is your take on, how did you put it, "regarding the evenings proceedings". Or is it just easier to take a shot at me?

For Acadiana this is a case of winning the battle and losing the war. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs.

Wow, first of all what makes you think I'm attacking you? My post was stained with general distaste for those who have constantly discredited AHS. Trust me, my world does not revovle around your opinion. As far as the game is concerned, I would agree it was relatively evenly matched. Jana Barrow was responsible for the majority of Barbe's offensive threat. AHS did a better job switching the point of attack. Both defences were pretty stiff, but Kristen Gil for AHS was putting on a clinic. The weather and untimely start seemed to have troubled both teams, but Barbe adapted a tad quicker. Overall AHS had the advantage 60-40. On another note, besides the misfortune of the playoff road for AHS, I am more disappointed that certain other teams will make it comfortably into playoffs, with Comeaux out. Comeaux is capable of competing in playoffs more so than some district champs. Thus the quandry that is Louisiana High School soccer.

I see it in district like this: 1 STM 2 Barbe 3 AHS 4 Comeaux 5 Sulphur It will be a fight for second. Could be Barbe or AHS!
