Thanks for telling the state who to mark up!
More interested in the best teams, their work speaks for itself.
1 v 11 never makes good odds!

Alex is a good player when she wants to be. She needs to learn to except resposibility for herself and not blame her teammates for her inability to make something happen out of nothing. Not every ball that is sent to her is going to be perfect. It takes a creative player to do that and this is one of the things she lacks. Like giveandgo pointed out, speed is not everything.

Thanks for telling the state who to mark up! More interested in the best teams, their work speaks for itself. 1 v 11 never makes good odds! Wow, tigertail... I couldn't agree with you more. And how many times have I been able to say that!!!. I will tell you the top players I have seen this year but you need to do your homework to find out Barbe's top players (even if, God forbid with the remarks on this thread, one of them was my daughter!!) If I had to pick 1 or 2 players to start a fantasy soccer team and I had the top pick here is where I would start: 1) Kelly Murphy. Great contol and a powerful shot. Reads the game well and smart soccer player. 2) Nat Ieyoub- Just a Junior but same as Kelly, great ball control and powerful shot. Though I have not seen all teams, I have been to the Rebel Cup, St Martin Tournament and seen other teams. And I would not dare add any Barbe Girls to this list, they have 8 excellent senior players that play as a team and I would take that over 1 top player any day.

I suppose at the start of this thread you CAN NOT vote for a player from your home team only opponents you have seen play. The idea should be to get the word out to other "fans". Hey come watch this player, maybe even a college coach (though unlikely they would bother to read this thread) to access whether to come watch a player. Sometime during the season the boys side will start a similar thread, and rather than becoming snippy, it will be very entertaining and might actually encourage some one to go see what all the fuss is about. If you are going to submit a player to be judged in this venue, understand, there will be barbs tossed her way. Most of these young ladies I haven's seen play this year. Some that I have I would not put up here as best in their district let alone the state. However each one to his own opinion. In the end who winds up playing at the next level will tell who was the best in the state as selected by college coaches. By the way there maybe some players who should be considered as best in the state but don't get to play because their school does not have a soccer program.

I tried to pick players for this category that others may not consider the "best" in the state but who are unsung hero's in their own right. The keeper who put her body on the line day in and day out for her team that is really bad, the defenders who know how to position their back line to adjust to the attack, the mid fielders who selflessly give up the ball for the sure thing, the wings that run up and down the entire field for 80 minutes to defend the cross and to make the cross, the players that understand the game, understand positioning , and most important understand that they are part of a team and their individual accomplishments may go unnoticed but they work for the good of their teammates. To me soccer is so much more than just goal scoring, I can enjoy a nil nil game just as much as a win. Thats what makes it such a beautiful game!

Random, Her name is Yancy, she is u16 and I think she attends Natichitoches (miss spelled, I know) High School. She practices and plays 100 mph all the time. You can't ask for a better teammate. You know game in and game out what she will bring. Ask Natallie from St. Louis, or Deb Hill from Acadiana, or Chelsea Granger from Lafayette, or even Kelly Murphy from STM and I am sure they will all tell you the young lady has heart and she has GAME.

uncsoccer, You have hit the nail on the head recognize those players that do all the dirty work that doesn't show up in 'stats'. Especially the poor keeper that plays for a bad team, that's a miserable job getting the ball out of the back of the net. No one ever says on these types of threads "Man that Melissa, really hits a lovely through ball to sping the striker free for a one on one with th GK." Just Elizabeth scored 4 goals tonight. No wonder no one wants to be the right back, but everyone wants to be the center forward. Keep plugging what I call the 'lunchpail bunch' - those that show up every night work their butts off and with the exception of their parents will not be recognized, but without them Erica wouldn't have scored 40 goals, or Betty wouldn't have 14 shutouts in 18 games at the end of the year.

well said, saders1fan. I continue to be surprised when I see that players score 6 or 8 goals against an obviously weaker team. And then even high five about it. I think that that is not only a reflection of the individual player but of the coach as well. The same is true in all team sports though. Look at the Randy Moss's etc-the unsung heros providing the blocks to free these guys up are just as important

To honor the unwritten rule that you cannot post about your daughter, sister, or even a player from your own school [this thread does seem to be 95% of that], I will deviate from the norm and say
Dutchtown -- Cruthirds - F - very fast and physical; Johnson - Sweeper -- also fast and physical, although I do not understand why she doesn't play mid-field; Jimenez -- super fast and a quality finisher.
BR High -- Henderson - F -- one of the state's best for 3 years now Carter -- MF -- controls the middle of the field

definitely Kelly Murphy STM do doubt; her sophomore she played vanderbuilt in finals and scored a hat trick that game
she is unbelievable and she only improves more and more, any defense would have a hard time blockin her and now her little sister as well

someone has to represent the northshore!
SSA: Danielle Beatty (mid), Kim Belmont (f), Tricia Johnson
FHS: Kaley Blanton (F), Caitlin and Hannah Leumas (outside mids), Jean Bernard(gk), and Casey Adkins(center mid)
MHS: Adrienne Boasso (mid/f), Rachael Knight (mid/f), Bailey ? (def.)
this is from what I've seen this year (ssa from last year), a lot of good players in this district, but these have the most impact for each team.( in my opinion)

Just a note that you might find interesting regarding best players and playing on the next level:
11/14/07 12:21 ET Re: Want to Play Division I Soccer , 11/14/07 It depends on the college and the college coach. It's not absolutely required but it definitely helps. I'm of the opinion that if a girl is brave and is good at attacking headers OR if she can take on and beat defenders 1v1, she will be able to get a good scholarship. Those are the two rarest skills that coaches are looking for in female players. There are several girls with those attributes who do not play Premier soccer or ODP who will be playing soccer in college.
But coaches are far more likely to find a girl with those attributes in Premier soccer. That's because the exposure for those girls to college coaches is better AND the players are more likely to learn those skills from a Premier coach. College coaches rarely attend D1, Rec or High School games – although if they hear good enough things about a player, they’ll go see her even if she’s playing in a lower level game.
If she's not picky on where she wants to go to college, she can find a scholarship somewhere if she's athletic and a decent soccer player. It may not be her first or second choice or even third choice, but some schools are out there looking for players every year.
Some players take the approach of “walking on” at a college but that is risky and usually not successful. Coaches have very little invested in walk-ons and aren’t likely to spend a lot of extra time with them. And if it doesn’t work out, the walk-on is stuck at a school where she can’t play soccer.
The number one thing IMO that makes a great player and college prospect is time with the ball - especially personal time with the ball outside of practice. That can be done by Premier, Division I, Rec or High School players.
Great players always have a ball with them. Of course if you're that good, a Division I coach will probably find a way for you to play for them.
I've told Anson Dorrance's story of offering a scholarship to a girl who had virtually no soccer experience but who came to his summer camp and blew everyone away with her pure speed. He said that he could teach her soccer but couldn't teach her that kind of speed. She played forward for UNC when they came to Birmingham. (sorry for rambling)

Callie Allbright from BRHS is one of those unsung players. Plays center back, excellent passer of the ball, great game reader, good size and speed, and never ever gets flustered or put out of the game.
