I agree about Callie. Really good player, and a sweet girl to boot!

Jordan Gauthier, STM sweeper.
She has been the leader of the STM defense for past 3 years, which has only given up 6 goals this year (thru 15 games), 12 goals all of last year.

STM has one of the best, if not the best defense in the state, with Rebecca cernich, Jordan gauthier, Emily Pontiff, natalie Dronet, as keeper, and I don't know who the other girl is, but they all deserve praise and accollades, along with the best offense. The lady Cougars will be hard to beat.

The other defender, I think, is Lauren Messonier. She is fast and a smart player. I think she played center mid last year. That is all premier players and disciplined players. That is a back line that will be difficult to penetrate come playoff time.

Some nominations from NW Louisiana, but here are some of the girls that are big contributors to their teams and deserve notice.
Forward:
Katie Drummond (Byrd) Good speed with acceleration that moves the defense into a poor position, has an accurate shot. Earns all her goals, no 5-6 goal games against weaker teams. Usually marked by the opponents best defender
Jordan Smith (Loyola) Fast, aggressive, good foot skills, always attacking the defense. Always one of the leaders in goals for her District. The main reason why Loyola will make the playoffs
Midfield:
Olivia Ditt (Parkway) good size and speed. The heart of the Parkway offense. Has a touch on nearly every Parkway possession. Good shot but also distributes the ball to her teammates. Will be in her District’s leaders in both goals and assists.
Celeste Goudeau (Caddo Magnet) plays goal line to goal line the whole game, relentless on defense, a 50/50 ball ends up hers. Great tactical sense on the field, always makes a good choice with the ball on offense.
Defense:
Lacy Hanna (Byrd) Fast enough to run with the speed players, strong enough to stand up to the physical players, an aggressive defender who is impossible to intimidate, outstanding in transitioning the ball to offense.
Katie Norgard (Captain Shreve) a smart defender who is always in great position. A leader in the backfield. Shreve’s defense is often under pressure because of limited offensive possession time, she helps to keep games close and give Shreve a chance to win.

In reply to kay4972, that is a very accurate description of the players and the right players for this thread. I would also like to add, for defense, Maggie Caruthers (Caddo Magnet). The is the wall of Magnet's defense. She is smart about when to clear it and when a simple pass can be made. She is vocal and helps the goalie maintain order in the defense. She gives 100% in every game, all game long. She is, without a doubt, one of the best players Magnet has.
Also like to add Ellen Dean (Byrd) who is a quick, smart, and talented player in the midfield. She may be small, but she doesn't back down.
And lastly, Jessica Davis (Airline). Jessica is quick to the ball, smart with her passes, and has a bullet of a shot. Her downfall comes with her temper because she's known to be overly aggressive. Other than that, she's a top player.

Yes rayne, another three players that any coach would be glad to have.
Unfortunately, Jessica Davis was injured early in the last game with Byrd and will probably be out for the rest of the season. We saw her a few days ago; she was in her usual good spirits and hopeful of a full recovery.
The rest of the season will not be quite as exciting with her on the sidelines

Forget the total goals. Meaningless statistic and gaudy adornment for your living room wall. Look at GW goals against quality opponents as a truer test of the stature of the player. Yes, that means something.

It doesn't mean anything. What has higher value...........a girls scoring 7 goals in a 15-0 win, or scoring two against superior opposition whilst one goal down?
