Yes, 1:45 am after a long trip from Monroe but wanted to post before I hit the hay. Brutal trip from Lake Charles for the Barbe vs West Monroe game with tornado watches the whole way up. Took forever but made it safe and sound.
By the time we hit the fields, weather was beautiful. I was very fortunate to get a tour of the West Monroe new field house and it was a work of art. The facility was state of the art complex and was better than most college facilities. Had their own 50 yard practice field that was also turf. The playing field was fast and true and though I am not a fan of the turf field, I liked the way this one played. On to the game.
The first 10 minutes were spent with Barbe feeling out the field and then Barbe kicked it in. Next 20 minutes Barbe put 4 goals in. The second was one of the prettiest goals I have seen Barbe make all year. Not because a girl hit a rocket or juked someone.... Barbe took the ball on their defensive 6 yard line and moved the ball up the field with precision with 8 different Barbe girls touching the ball before Jana Barrow rips the back of the net. That is text book soccer. Halftime score 4-0. Barbe takes the 2nd half and scores 15 minutes in and then subbed freely for the last 20 minutes. West Monroe never quit and played hard till the final whistle. Even though the score hit 5-0, no cheap fouls or dirty play.
Long trip and very pleased with the way the Barbe girls played tonight. Looking forward to the game next week with Caddo/Woodlawn.

And, you forgot to point out that the Lady Rebels soccer team is nice enough to let the West Monroe football team use the facilities during their season.

That is text book soccer. It was actually nicer then what you describe. If I recall correctly, the possession began on the left side around midfield. Barbe dropped it back to the fullback, who sent it to the sweeper who then sent it up to the right side of the field. There were, what, 12 passes? 14? Right up the right side then over to the middle for a score. You are correct, that was text book soccer. Reminded me of our game against AC Milan in the Champions League a few years back.

Well that was a bad bet obviously, thought Barbe might have trouble with smooth fast surface, apparently not. I'm sure West Monroe fans and coaching staff went out of there way to take extremely good care of there guests, they do.

Rumors were flying all over Monroe yesterday, that Steven Gerrard was in town to watch the West Monroe vs. Barbe soccer match. I guess those rumors turned out to be true! WOW, I feel honored just to know that I was in the same town, at the same time as Mr. Gerrard!

Good match, MCA scored it's goal in 1st half and had one disallowed in the 70th minute due to an offside call.
