Doubled, a "disallowed goal" off an obvious infraction is not a goal. The final score was 1-0 in an excellent, very even match which could easily have gone the other way. The only goal scored was on a kick in the 38th minute after a foul which even the MCA parents I talked to at halftime said they thought should have gone the other way.

Did you talk to them about the other 20 or so calls that went against MCA and should have gone the other way? I guess not. Anyway, one thing was obvious tonight. The lady in the middle was somewhere else.

Mcarules, I agree 100 percent that the officiating was out of this world - there were many calls that were unfathomable to the spectators, like the "no-call" by the linesman when the ball actually bounced on the runnibg track toward the end of the game and play continued. I only talked about the foul call at halftime because : 1) it happened right before the end of the half, and 2) it was obviously a game-changing call in an otherwise even match.

diverdo - I attended the match as a neutral spectator. Although both you and mcarules are correct, I wouldn't refer to it as a game changing call since the center gave at least 2 similar opportunities to Mandeville late in the second half, but they did not capitalize. Also, the mandy keeper owes her sweeper for clearing two certain goals - one in the first and one in the second.

Northshore 1, Dutchtown 0 Final. I have to say this was a well played match! You could tell Dutchtown was a better team, but didn't bring there "A" game and Northshore was to good to not play your best. Big upset in my opinion.

St. Joseph's 1 Chapelle 0 in the most lopsided 1-0 match this observer ever remembers. Leah Aultman in the 77th minute off an assist from Grace Gremillion. Details and game analysis to be posted by 8:00 p.m. on the Div I/District 5 thread.
SJA on to the quarters to face the survivor of a gargantuan match between -- Fontainebleau and Dominican.

To SJADAD: First, congratulations on advancing to the quarterfinals. I feel a need to reply to your game analysis because it was an extremely ARROGANT comment to say that this was "the most lopsided 1-0 win". Yes, you did dominate and have more possession, but that possession did not lead to any quality shots, except for 1. the game winner,2. the other one you spoke, which sailed over the FOOTBALL field goal post, and 3. one-on-one in the first half. Other than that, our Chapelle goalie was pretty comfortable, as she did not make one dive, and catching rolling balls. Chapelle had some quality chances with the corner kicks and free kicks, especially the header that was cleared off your goal line. So if you think shooting from 40 yards should be considered a quality shot, it should be close to being on frame. So, lopsided, give me a break.
Now, as for your comments about the fields. Are you serious? Putt-putt carpet? It's not carpet, its turf, and if you would have kicked the ball on that field you would realize that it actually is slower than on normal grass. I'm so sorry to hear your coach was unhappy the first half, but I'm pretty sure he was upset that your girls couldn't pass, because that is really sad to blame it on a perfect stadium field. Please, everyone else who plays St Joes call the coach and let him know the type of grass, so he can make a solid game plan. By the way, if you happen to get to the finals, Independence Stadium is the same type of field, so pass that onto your coach, so he won't be so upset. Your girls had an hour to warm up and figure it out, and Chapelle had only played on it one other time this year, so find a better excuse to why you aren't as good as you think.
Oh wait, you did. THE REFS...how could I forget. Your forward was called for the same foul because the ref was VERY consistent, because she kept hooking and pushing off (which he stopped and explained to her). He also gave your girls at least 2 free kicks that second half. Your girls had to resort to trash talking, calling our player a "midget." Well, our 2 (an 8th and 9th grader) shut your girls down for the most part, and your girls simply got frustrated and continued to push off...it happens, get over it. The ref did not make any game deciding calls. You guys played a physical game, and you worked hard for the win. Too many people thought this would be an easy game, and you can't admit that it wasn't. Can't wait to hear how much you complain when you don't get the win. Be happy that your girls played hard and found a way to win.

to Chapelle's vitriolic reply. Don't forget to hit "smite" on my karma. It seems to be chique these days. Kudos to Chapelle for a very well organized defensive game plan. Upon reviewing the game film, final match statistics -- Shots on Goal -- SJA 9 Chapelle 3 Saves -- Chapelle 4 SJA 0 As to the turf, I didn't blame it for our poor play. We simply did not adjust to the surface at all in the first half -- particularly with the 20 mph wind at our back. Chapelle had the same problem in the 2nd half. It was the same field for both teams. And I agree with you that perhaps our girls should have tested it more thoroughly in pre-game warmups. Oh and with two posts -- welcome to the Board!!

Speaking for myself as SJA coach, I am very proud of my girls and want to congratulate Chapelle for a very hard fought game. Personally I loved the field and wish I could have played on it in my younger days. Looking forward to the next round to prove that we are not a "David".

Fully defer to Coach Craig's comments about the field, and apologize for any erroneous descriptions about it. I did have some very traumatic experiences on evil, torture-filled Putt-Putt courses -- especially the one that used to be on Veterans Blvd in Metairie. Watching the "Saw" movies recently made me remember them. I've had many, many therapy sessions, and sometimes those old demons still rear their ugly heads. Kudos also to Chapelle for a terrific game.
