SSA- 5 Northshore- 0 Wind howling game, both teams fought hard, no matter how one sided it seemed to some! All goals were quality and well deserved by each of these 5 players. Trish J., Ashley M., Lauren S., Catie C., Casie F. And Northshore did have a couple quality threats.

Thanks for the compliments, SJADAD and jerseyboy. You guys deserved the win. I only get offended when teams don't sound happy with a win, especially when a win comes within a few minutes of the game about to go into overtime. It was similar to the mca complaints when they barely got passed mandeville.
Unfortunately, our defensive plan was meant to be an offensive plan. We actually played with 3 forwards, but when 10 of our 11 starters are true defenders, they go back into a defensive mode. Many of our games went the way ours went Monday, because we really had a complete team of defenders this year, and not even midfielders. But oh well, you do what you can with what you have. Thanks for the kudos, and good luck in the quarterfinals!

Byrd 2 EA 1 Good hard play throughout, extremely physical game, but zero yellow cards. I'd have Byrd at about 65-70 % of possession first half and took deserved lead. Breakdown in the middle, opens up for a cross, sent in low and ball in back of the net. Halftime 1-0. EA comes out much stronger second half, at times took it to Byrd - though defensively Byrd never quite looked like cracking. A high high ball sent in from defense allowed forward to time the bounce and head over stranded GK. 1-1. Around 15 mins left scrambled goal, comes off shin of EA and hits the net, 2-1. All out panic and throwing caution to the wind as EA tries to tie it up. 3 mins left, superb rip by EA forward and an amazing point blank save by BHS GK.........and that was all she wrote.
I am proud of the Lady Spartans - a VERY impressive return back to the big dogs in 5A. Huge congrats to Byrd, very impressive bunch of young ladies, you can tell it is a senior ladden crew, extremely well disciplined and very well coached. I wish them the very best.
Really good night for soccer, big crowd, like to think both sets of supporters had fun.
Good luck to everyone the rest of the way who are still involved. Comiserations if now out.
Coaches, keep doing the good stuff. The W is great and fun, but the other lessons we teach are more important and long lasting.

Barbe 2 Caddo Magnet 1
Heard what I thought was the best news I have heard in a while when I heard Caddo's stud keeper didn't make the trip with a virus. Boy was I wrong. Caddo played inspired ball without Kat and almost pulled off a victory. First 10 minutes of the game Barbe played as if they were feeling the effects of Mardi Gras and played very sluggish. About 20 minutes in, Barbe has a corner kick that skips through and is chested in for the 1-0 Barbe lead. Barbe gets a PK minutes later and I am thinking this is ball game but Poopsie leaves it far right and misses the PK. UUUGGGHHHH. The rest of the 1st half is back and forth and with less than a minute in the half Caddo gets a breakaway and scores for the 1-1 Halftime score.
Second half gets very physical with some head scratching on the calls by the ref. Both teams (and coaches) seemed to be frustrated with the calls not made and then the calls that were made. About 20 minutes in, poopsie redeems herself and takes the ball about 40 yards out and takes on 3 defenders and shoots at the 18 and the ball skips through the keepers arms for the 2-1 lead. Last 15 minutes, Barbe plays defense and holds on for the 2-1 win.
Hats off to Caddo, they played a great game and with Kat this could have been a different result. Barbe bent but didn't break and while playing the worse game of the playoffs, still found a way to win the game and move on. Caddo looked great and the younger players show the future is bright for Caddo. Sorry to see the tears from the seniors and other players, they played great ball tonight.
Next up for Barbe, their nemesis Lafayette Lady Lions. Should be a great game on Monday.

Div II Parkway vs Teurlings
Went to 6 PKs with the goalies kicking last. Our Goalie shot a lazer into the corner, then came back to stop the final shot from Teurlings. Pandemonium ensued for the Lady Panthers! It was a hard fought game from beginning whistle to the final shot of the game with both teams playing with all they had. Both teams had the chance to win it in regulation and OT, but couldn't keep the ball away from the goalies. Hats off to the Teurling's ladies, it was a great game.
