Well played. D'town in the 15th min off a terrific cross and a pk on a hand ball in the 80th. I think SJA had a slight edge in possession, maybe not shots. Gozips please post game stats. SJA had a great chance to tie in the 72nd on an obstruction call in the box. The indirect ultimately resulted in a shot that hit the cross bar.
SJA a solid 3rd place team in the most entertaining district in the state. Congrats D'town.
edited to add unbelievable attendance from both sides. I would estimate 150 fans. Outstanding.

Here is my summary and the stats from a very closely contested (closer than score indicates) and hard fought match between St. Joe's and Dutchtown:
Dutchtown initially controlled the first few minutes of the match, but St. Joe's settled down and probably had an edge in possession until Dutchtown scored in the 15th minute (not sure who scored) on a ball that kind of skittered through the box to a waiting Dtown player who put it in from about 8 yards. St. Joe's had a couple of chances to clear the ball, but couldn't quite get a clean foot on it. Possession was probably fairly close the rest of the way (I might even give a slight edge to St. Joe's). Dutchtown was superior on counter attacks. 25 and 32 for Dtown were quite adept at dribbling up the field with speed on St. Joe's, but St. Joe's managed to usually recover and thwart the chance. Although both teams had a few good looks, neither keeper was really ever challenged. A handball on a cross (shot from the side?) in the box at the 80+ minute mark set up a PK by #25 L. Robichaux (spelling?). Well struck, 2-0, and the game ended very shortly thereafter following 2 corners by St. Joe's. Not intentional handball, just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Goals: Summer Bernard, 15th minute; Lindy Robichaux, 80th minute.
Shots: SJA: 14 total shots, 4 on goal; Dtown 12 total shots, 7 on goal.
Saves: SJA Flechas 5, Dtown 4
Corners: SJA 2, Dtown 5
Fouls: SJA 7, Dtown 7 (1 yellow)
Throw ins: SJA 30, Dtown 32
Offsides: I don't think there was an offside in the game.
This district was really fun this year and I look forward to next year.

I know during my time coaching I had my "view" on possession, but I often wonder how people on here define possession and determine it when they watch a game, sense a lot is left to perception. Just a question

In answer to oldhatrick3, possession is probably colored by the rooting interest of the viewer. Without film and a stopwatch, not sure how someone can accurately quantify it. I am sure the Dutchtown fans saw the possession as 60/40 Dtown. SJA fans would flip that.
Looking at the stats reported in the paper today the save total reported was much higher than I recorded. Whoever reported the score to the paper had 9 saves for Dutchtown and 12 for SJA. I had 4 saves for Dutchtown and 5 for SJA. I only count it as a save if it truly has a chance to go in - i.e, only for true shots on goal.
Different people interpret things differently. I think everything said/reported on this board has to be taken with the realization that everyone has their bias. True objectivity is not possible, no matter how hard we try (at least for parents and fans).

What can I say? What a game. When was the last time you saw a girls game with 20 fouls?? That might lead you to believe this was just an elbow-fest. Not true. Both teams with quality chances. Quite frankly, BRHS should have been up 2-0 4 mins in -- 2 virtual open netters that were sent sailing over the bar.
Then it settled. BRHS controlled the 1st 15. Than SJA gradually gained the pitch. Very few opps the rest of the half. Possession 1st half -- BRHS 60 SJA 40.
2nd half kickoff seemed to open things up. Wings for both teams became much more involved. Much more fluid flow to the game.
BRHS scratches 1st in the 65th min when a corner results in a scrum that I think Emily Segura converts. 1-0 BRHS.
SJA puts the pedal to the medal and pushes, pushes, and pushes.
In the 69th min, Bradie Moran takes a ball and just before the half line, passes to Maggie Wilkins, who takes a dribble and then a feeds a a perfect through ball to Emily Krzystowczyk who beats 1 defender and then chips for the equalizer.
Both teams have chances the rest of the half but then we go to OT.
In the 86th min, Rachel Fenner sends a low wicked corner that BRHS kicks out. Another corner.
This time, Fenner floats one into the box, and 5' 3" Jessica Dismukes somehow wiggles in and not only gets a head on it but blisters it into the back of the net.
2nd OT half is SJA playing defense with few quality opps for BRHS.
Rugged, physical game. Congrats BRHS on a terrific season and for beating EA.

as I said earlier that District 5 is not the toughest, but the most balanced. All games you all (district teams)have been in were very competitive! Do not feel bad about extra time added at end of game (Dominican) at Pan Am Field. Earlier this year while playing them we had over four minutes added to our game. Could see a couple, but not four...Must be a different time zone at that particular stadium. Maybe time stands still (at 1 point in the second halves), do not know...
