Evidently my comments about the Slidell-Ponchy touched a nerve with someone. If so, I do apologize. I was just making an observation of refereeing from my visits there and last year.

Friday night on the Northshore:
St Paul's at Ponchatoula -- Wolves are en fuego. MyNewHero Ryan will need lots of help to keep this close.
Mandeville and Hammond -- Hammond just marked its first district win in ? years. The streak ends against the offensively weak Skippers.
Slidell and Fountaineblue -- The Team of the Future showed up Tuesday night. They will notch district win number 2 on Friday.
Northshore and Covington -- Panthers pile on Lions this week. This is not your father's Covington Fighting Lions.

Just some news from SPS... after the Northshore game St. Paul's players were not happy... Frankie had a hat trick and was very mad that he did not have two to three more... Also, Mingo did not have a great game (at least for him)... SPS will be the team to beat, FHS will be the team to watch out for... the Wolves not only have an extremely potent offense that continually creates opportunities, but they have now found a sweeper which should settle any questions about the defense. Eustis has been pulled from the midfield to fill the void at sweeper left by district MVP Dieffenbacher. The Wolves will win the close games because of their offense. Coaches Watkins and Vasquez are brilliant coaches who always put thier boys in position to win. I think if they are in a close game (tied or down) they will not hesitate To pull up Eustis to the attack. Trust me when I say that when Eustis, Mingo, Frankie and Crane are all up top, there will be no defense in this district that can stop them. SPS wins any close games and goes undefeated in district.

St. Paul 4 - Ponchatoula 2 Chiken's boy's keep it close but SPS pulls away. If PHS can score a couple early goals, the whole complection of this match will change. This is the best PHS team in quite some time. Playing at home is also a plus for the Wave. Breeden and Mingo are just too much though.
Mandeville 5 - Hammond 1 This match will be closer than the score would indicate. Halftime score MHS 3 - HHS1. Mandeville just has too much depth and talent for a much improved Hammond team. At Hammond the score would be closer, but not at MHS where the Skippers usually play well.
Fontainebleau 3 - Slidell 2 The gloves come off in the third meeting of the season between these two. Ford at SHS is a real talent, he just can't do it alone. Coach Ditchendorf doesn't have a magic wand, but given something to work with, he is an excellent coach. Coach Varnado knows how to win.......with gritty defense. Thats why this will be close - again.
Northshore 2 - Covington 1 Until my old team can figure out how to score (and that includes PKs) the best they will be is competitive. Coach Laz at NHS must have some young talent to hang with SPS. It looks like a bright future at NHS. BTW, CHS has two very good freshmen in Luke Baudean and Alan Didier. Don't count my Lions out in spite of growing pains.
Good luck to all of the teams playing, especially my Lions. Coach Inman

These are my predictions IF the games are still on for tomorow night...
St Pauls - 5 Ponchatoula - 1
**With ANOTHER hat trick from Frankie, what more do i need to say?
Mandeville - 4 Hammond - 0
**Mandeville's defense is too strong for the Tors to score, and their forwards will have a hayday of chances.
Fontainebleau - 2 Slidell - 1
**The 3rd season meeting should be the closest... Slidells coach has played and lost to FHS 2 times now, and he should know how they operate, and defend well, but i dont see much offense generated by slidell if they do not help ford.
Northshore - 1 Covington - 0
**Very close game... Lions probably had their heads a little too high Tuesday after their win at the pearl river tournament and were caught off guard, but this game they will fight, but unfortunately lose this close game that comes down to the wire.

Northshore 2 -Covington 0 Game was a little slow. Neither team really did a good job of taking quality shots. Maybe a couple for each team and none of them found the net. NHS did a better job of pushing up numbers and dropping the ball across the middle but very few ended in real chances. The two goals were ugly. but ugly counts in the end. If Coach Laz can develop some finishers NHS will be tough to deal with. Their defense is solid. Until CHS can test the keeper from distance, clean sheets for the opposing keeper will be the norm. I will say this for CHS, the defense never quits and the midfield shows flashes of really good play. The attack has to be smarter though because although Barrial is very good and Baudean will be - right now, its not clicking. I hope the guy for NHS that broke his collar bone heals up nicely and gets to play some more this season. Good luck Lions Tuesday. Coach Inman

Ok how about this Friday 12/16 @ the Dog Pound FHS vs. SPS:
4:30 Freshman play, SPS won 1-0 in the first meeting, FHS won the second 1-0.
5:30 JV play, FHS record is 6-0 which includes a thrashing of MHS 7-0 on 12/14. I would not be surprised if SPS is undefeated as well.
7:00 Var. play for the lead in the district race.
all this soccer for only $3 easily the best two programs top to bottom on the North shore.
predictions?

Friday games aka Rivalry Week on the Northshore
SPS and FHS -- FrankieBabie gets a hat trick, and then hard hit from Georgeous #10. Wolves on top by a goal. Three way tie for second.
Northshore and Slidell -- Theo MyOtherHero runs wild. 3-0 by halftime. Slidell will soon be Hammond's boy toy.
Mandeville and Covington - Skippers have only 11 players and no offense. Defense keeps them in games. Covington has no offense and defense keeps them in games. A mirror image
Ponchatoula and Hammond -- will Greenies be improved Tors 3rd victim this season? Where you at MyNewHero.

Fontainebleau - 2 St Pauls - 3 ** In overtime... Frankie might not be at full strength because of small injury he picked up during covington game. VERY close game, its gonna be a nailbiter.
Northshore - 3 Slidell - 1 **Whats goin on with slidell this year? All they really need to do is get Ford some attacking help, and they will win some games, but I dont see it happening vs nhs.
Mandeville - 2 Covington - 1 **Covington might sit back and try to defend like they did vs sps. And mandeville DOES have some good offensive players, #2 Jamie i think, and their left winger Andre who is VERY fast. They should have a couple of good chances, but conditioning will be an issue with 11 players.
Ponchatoula - 3 Hammond - 2 **Goes to PKs with both of these TREMENDOUSLY improved teams.
