Sulphur has only a forward and a stopper. They just play hard nose run and chase. The last game that I watch recently, they could not put 3 passes together. I will say it again, if Lafayette scores 1st its over. If Sulphur scores 1st they will do just like at STM pack it in, have 1 forward and hold on. To give Sulphur some credit you should win games you are suppose to win.. The 1st two playoff games proves that. I think with all the premier players on Lafayette's team the mental toughness will show.

What do you guys think will be the key ingridients for either team to win.
Are there going to be some unlikly heroes for this game?
I predict that this game will be closer then the previous 3 and that sulphur the weakest team left will lose.

Well if Sulphur doesn't play a stopper then they have a player that stays out of position. you can call him a defensive mid or what ever you want to call him but he stays where a stopper plays. Its like different religions it mostly depends on the terminology.

hdkiga you bring up a good subject. who will step up tonight? will one of the role players you talked about be the key to this game? guys i think may stand out tonight are, mcnamara, and hardy for the lions. the tors are full of roll players so it could come from imeg or maddie86, either way i think the role players may be the stars tonight!
good luck dist. 3

Sulphur - 1 Lafayette - 3. This is a final. It was tied 1 - 1 at the half. Lafayette scored second goal at 29:50 left in game. 3rd goal scored was with about 4:00 left.

sounds like it was a good game. to all my friends in sulphur, you had a great run and remember it took a dist.3 team to knock you out of the playoffs. i'm very proud of all of you. congrats on a great season.
congrats lafayette looks like the top two teams from dist.3 are still in it. lets make a deal to meet in the finals!! wouldn't that be great! good luck against rummel!! and go dist. 3

i have something to say and i dont want it to be edited, these are the only words i can use to describe how lafayette played greatand how good they are, ( heres my choice words) belfour bad a ss will todd bad as s , b. mcnamara MY OPINION BEST PLAYER ON LAFAYETTE, ALL AROUND, GREAT GAME ( bad as ss) hardy bad a ss carter bad as s , carter bad as s, and here is lafayettes role player i dont know his name b/c maybe he's not outgoing lol but # 56 , outside mid, is really good, quick , good footwork and a great attitude ( lafayettes defense played good too, dont know many of them, sorry)
now id like to tell about the game, sulphur comes out( extremely pumped up ) lafayette comes out ( extremely pumped up) first half was the better half ( more exciting i mean) and better for sulphur , believe me when i say sulphur controlled most of the first half b/c we really did( if u dont believe, ask mcscruff, he'll admit it), lafayette gets first goal maybe 15 minutes into the half, belfour sends a through ball to 56 , 56 ( im on him) take off the angle and he cuts real quick and puts a nice ball through the middle , mcnamara finshes it around the pk mark. from here on is where we kinda took control , we had plenty of missed oppurtunities ( they had some but not as much as us) then with around 3 minutes left before half , chris broussard has a left footed volley, hits the sweeper bounces back and he volleys it again with his right from around 14 yards out. half time whistle comes couple minutes later . during the half . im sure lafayette had a good pump up speech b/c we did , but the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half , lafayette came out playing great, winning balls and pushing really hard to our goal, that pays off b/c i think during that time belfour goes line, our man ( justin broussard ) stays with him the whole time , joey tries to cross it but justin gets a foot on it. they have a throw in from around 3 yards out. they make a deep throw , hits one of our players and goes to number 8 will todd, he buries it. sulphur tries really hard within the next 25 or so minutes but cant put any more in , like i said earlier, ALOT of missed oppurtunities. with6 minutes left they hit it to one of the outside mids ( i dont know who i think 0) and he crosses it, keeper tries for it but kinda overruns it and number 5 blake hardy ( sophmore i think) buries it in . the game was very aggressive on both sides, the refs were good even though they called every little foul so i have nothing to complain about, we had a great season and it sucks to lose but i honestly think lafayette will win state ( unless goats rams can stop them) .. GREAT SEASON SULPHUR. WE PROVED TO EVERYONE THAT WE CAN PLAY WITH ANYONE!!!!!

Great summary, imeg. You nailed it. Y'all played great tonight. I wish you all the best of luck in the future. Sulphur is definitely a class act. How about Brad Ahrens, though. I know he gets talked about ALOT on this board and I definitely don't think he is Sulphur's only player, but that kid is awesome. And, he's a great kid as well. Any foul on Sulphur's offensive half is a scoring opportunity for the Tors. Imeg, why doesn't Brad take the kicks that are closer in also? There were a couple from about 35 out in the first half that he didn't take. I was just curious about that. Anyway, this was a classic D3 playoff showdown. Way to persevere, Lions.

ofcourse brad could take the kicks but we like to give them to our junior #16 andrew magel, he has very good placement and puts it where we need it, again brad could take them but noone complains with andrew.
