oh, here are who those Lafayette players are:
56 is Eric Ellander. He is a sophmore. He probably had one of his best games of the season tonight. He played great.
0 who made the cross on the last goal is Ryan Dhuet (sp?). He was on JV for most of the year, but got called up at the end of district play.
I thought Lafayette's d-line played about their best game so far. With all of the free kicks that Sulphur got, Lafayette's d really stepped up and prevented them from scoring. Brennan Pierce(stopper) has been playing fantastic for the last month or so. The other Lafayette defenders were Mark St. Cyr and Dustin Menard (left and right back) and Jordan Judice (sweeper). They all played great.

I will say it 1 last time. Sulphur without a large number of premier players (1 true premier player ahrens) they had to play with emotion and for the 1st half they did. The second half proved how players who have been brought up thru a premier system have a mental toughness that rec players don't have. I not bashing Sulphur, but if more of their players played premier and with the athletes they have, they would make a run at a state title. Playing on a premier team means more than just you senior season to get ready for high school soccer.

imeg great post. it sounds like it was a classic dist.3 battle. i know mcscruff was nervous before the game and he should have been. i have to agree with mcscruff about ahrens he is awsome, (but not the only good player on sulphur).
i know i have said this several times but i'm going to say it again, remember sulphur it took a dist. 3 team to knock you out of the playoffs, and that says alot. i hope imeg and the rest of the tors on here continue to post their thoughts and views for the rest of the year.
great job and go dist 3.

I don't know where the refs were from, but the center did the Division I state finals last year. Why do you ask that?

Just curious, with the comment that was made about the referee calling every little foul . . . The center from the D1 State Final? Female Referee? She's a very good official.

THE LADY THAT WAS CENTER REF IN THE LAF VS SULPHUR GAME WAS PATHETIC, SHE SHOULD STICK TO GIRL'S GAMES !

She might have been pathetic in your eyes, but she has some of the highest level experience of any official in Louisiana. She has done top level Pro Games, including WUSA Matches last season.
You should be honored to have had her on your field

if the ref was from the baton rouge area and her name was michelle she is one of the best refs in the state and region. she has called state title games as well as regional title games in the select league. i think she is a grade 5 or 4, which means she has forgot more soccer than most of the people who down her.

Maybe she was just having an off night. I thought she was very good in the finals last year. Last night, fouls were 3-1 in favor of Sulphur, though.

Well, Maybe Lafayette was fouling 3 times the amount of Sulphur. Did you think about that option?

in my oponion laf fouls more than any other team i kno other than carencro and laf also complains about everything. the center ref was not a bad ref at all.Belfor should of gotten card when he took off his shirt when he thought she made a bad call he also prolly should of gotten a card cause the whole game he did cheap foules to me like one time i went of for a header and he elbowed me in the side of the neck and took my feet out from under me and i fell on my head. he wasn't even goin for the header. he is a very good and skilled player but prolly the worst attitude other than tickle from barbe thati know. but i am rootin for laf to win it all cause not all there players are like him

Maybe you should have paid more attention to McNamara, Todd and Hardy, then.
Come on Sulphurback8. It was a hard fought game and both teams played their hearts out. Don't taint it by acting like that.

I just want to say one thing to the ref of that game. When you called a foul against LHS and then you turned around to the sulphur fans and bowed you should have been hit with a baseball. That was completly uncalled for. i think the end fouls were 28 LHs and 9 Sulphur
