PumasFC & Pitchstalker The two of you don't seem to want to give any credit to HS keepers that also play club soccer. It is ok to pump up one of your own as Pitchstalker is doing, but you can't say that club soccer keepers shouldn't count when they also are HS keepers as well. The best keepers in HS also find ways to play on club teams, just like good defenders, midfielders, and forwards play usually play club as well as HS when given the chance. Can't use the excuse that option isn't available to all kids.

I have not said anything about club keepers not being good. READ back. I simply stated my opinion of my keeper. I totally agree BM keeper is good as well as some others mentioned here. At no time did I say they were not. I simply stated my keeper deserves recognition even though he hasn't had the same training. That's all.

Mark Colomb, Brother Martin, in New Orleans. Alex Chapman, Dutchtown, in Baton Rouge. Ray Savoie, Teurlings Catholic, or Andy Holtz, STM, in Lafayette. Brennan Kirkpatrick, Airline, in Shreveport.

It is not about giving credit to Club Keeper. For the most part they are the ones getting the year around training that is required of a GK probably as much or more than any other position on the field. Be careful when you criticize a coach/keeper (still). they have been on both sides of the table. My only point was that the keepers should be measured by what they are doing with their present teams, not how they did last fall or farther back to last spring. Most of these Club keepers are probably leaders on their HS team. To be a good GK you must command your "house" (the penalty area). direct your team-mates and have their respect, this goes across all lines from Club to HS. You can't just do it part time. Pitchstalker's will once again lean on his field boss to come up big at critical points in the game against Acadiana . If he fails so will D'Town.

newtosoccer, I agree with you Ryan Porche is in the upper echelon for GK's. Rummel's keeper also is great. Nick Johnson of Terrebonne would be up there too if he hadn't had to sit out the rest of his senior year because of grades. One kid I saw do great despite his team's lack of depth in defense is Hahnville's GK. We do tend to put a lot of emphasis on calling a keeper poor if his team loses, especially big, but we do have to remember that you can have the best keeper to ever exist in your bet but if you don't have the defenders to support him, he's going to be lit up like a cigar at a wedding. I tend to look at a keeper's saves and his ability to make the saves. I've seen teams with great defenses and marginal keepers do well and seen teams with great keepers and no defense to speak of do poorly. Like in hockey, the keeper is the LAST line of defense, not the only line of defense.

i have to say that the D1 keepers are some of the best in the state not just because of the D1 factor because ive played aginst them and watched them play and they have come up big. and carencro's keeper started playing in the goal in the middle of the season, and he has been keeping us in the playoffs. he really came up big in our match aginst cado blocking some shootouts

Def Mark Colomb for Brother Martin

No offense, but Brother Martin's backup goalie (Andre Boudreaux) is the only one who compares to Mark and Andy. I have seen Chapman play four times, Pitchstalker, and that includes watching him warm up, he is definitively miles behind the top two as is the rest of the state. Do not be surprised if Colomb takes BM all the way to the title match if not the championship itself.

Danny Landry for Episcopal is a very good keeper. He played exceptionally well in all of Episcopal's big games: Uhigh, Regional, and Quarter final.
Hans Holmgren (sp?) is another good keeper for West Feliciana. He's got the longest punt of any keeper i've played against.

Tell me, i've seen Andre play and played against him once. I've also played against Mark and Andy in club. Andre is a good keeper, but miles behind Andy and Mark too .... I'm also not quite sure the hype with Chapman. Granted he's a good keeper, i've never seen anything spectacular from him. Pitch has seen him much more than me though and knows better i'm sure. this year .. best keepers in state i've seen have been the club guys: Mark from Brother Martin Andy from STM Jesuit's keeper Rummel's keeper behind these guys i think u can put Chapman and Andre.

i was watching Slidell's keeper, and i tell you what, this kid has only played about 9 or 8 games and has came up huge for Slidell. I saw him vs. St. Pauls earlier this year, and this kid played great, i htink the news paper said he saved 20 out of 21 shots, and got scored on in the last 3 minutes of the game, which i saw and it was a questionable offsides call, but this kid was amazing. If someone could, i want to know this kid's name.

The new keeper for Slidell is named Kevin. He is going to be good!
I heard in the Cro game that da Bears only had 3 shots and 2 wnet in. Only 1 shot in the first half and it was 1-0. Tell me again how good the keeper is supposed to be?

what about the keeper up north? brennen kirkpatrick? he played for the 88 ODP team and got picked for a regional pool game...if you think the north has nothing and you havent seen him then you still got another year, he's a junior now

Haven't seen Brennen play i don't think. I could have played him in club and just not really realized it. As far as 88s ODP ... did any other goalkeepers try out? .. but making the pool is quite an accomplishment.
