England 5-1 Germany......there are no such things as friendlies between England and Germany; and it wasnt anyway. It was a World Cup Qualifier!!
Same thing with Argentina....friendlies will never be friendly.

it was a world cup qualifier which i think the usa could only dream of beating a team that good. ok you have italy and czechs woopy doo. but if usa are that good then they shouldnt have no problem eh. england are way better than the usa and you know it because we beet you guys with our b team. both goals by kieron richardson who i think is only 18 years of age.

you dont even know the rivalry between england and germany even if it was a friendly which it was not. it all started on christmas day in ww2 when the english men heard the germans singing so they played a footy game and then went back to shooting each other lol. way better rivalry than the usa and mexico

Ok, yea you are right, it was a qualifier. Still, it wasn't a typical Germany team of the past. Germany are now ranked 22nd. It is funny how English fans use that as their validation game. It was one game. Get over it. If England would have done that when Klinsman and Voeller were around or when Beckenbauer then, ok, big accomplishment. It still does not change the fact that Enlgand are super underachievers in the international game. Yea, yea, whatever team you pull for, more than likely your rival is the best rivalry in the world. Argentina Brazil, USA Mexico, England Germany, all are good rivalries, but a friendly and a qualifier are two different things. You may claim that Germany were a good team since they got to the final, but you have to admit, their road to the finals was the easiest in history. Maybe Germany will do well this time around, and maybe they will match up with England in the final and get revenge for 1966 when England bought the refs and paid for a finals win.

if u don't take owen, your freakin crazy, he's a beast, he just hasn't been able to do much this year since he signed with Newcastle, which is becoming one of the worst teams in the premier league, but still doesn't mean that he is a great player, you might as well take him off that poll. this is a post on who should sven take to the world cup. another dude knows what hes talkin about

Wow, you are an expert about american soccer because you watch only the EPL. You are an expert of the american program because you do not watch it.
Great!
Good for you.
Keep that attitude up. Heck we beat you in the World Cup of 1950 with that same attitude.

OK, if USA played Enland over the next 10 weeks ten times (both teams being completely healthy that is). USA would win 3, and England would win 7. That's my opinion.
How can we as Americans(usasoccerboy) say that England are undachievers when we haven't even won a World Cup yet? I hate to admit it, but the USA needs to lift that trophy to finally be taken seriously. South Korea made it all the way to the semi finals last World Cup, and still aren't looked at as a serious contender. That's the same as it is for the US unfortunately.
We got to the quarter finals last WC and lost a tough game to Germany 1 nil. I think we should have won. We just didn't put our chances away. We underachieved.
Enlgand are stacked with world class players. Sven is fortunate enough to have the headache of cutting great players from the squad. USA don't have this yet. That time is close, but not yet. Don't get me wrong though, I think the USA will have a great 23 man roster for the World Cup, and hopefully we win. But I would put money on Enlgand before the US.

im not being biat but your completely correct. in a couple of worldcups i think the usa would be a better threat because the younger boys have got some quality. beatin argentina 1-0 thats an accomplishment really because the national team couldnt do that.

lets just route for our countries and lets see how it goes. ok the winners of group e has to play brazil ok if usa are second then they will play australia or japan which should get them through but if usa can pull it together and win this thing it will be probably the hardest road either way for a team to go through so i wish the usa luck on that journey.

You got it backwards. If the USA comes in second, they will play Brazil, more than likely. If they come in first, Japan or Croatia. I doubt Australia will advance, but then again, you never know.
2001 - a long time ago too.
1950 - you right, it is a long time ago. Team USA is 1000 times better than they were in 1950.
England have stayed about in the same position as they were in 1950.
The USA will continue to get better as there are parts of the country that are just getting into the game. It is no more a game played primarily in the northeast and California.

I agree, England is a far superior team than the US, and that was proved in last years friendly where England beat us with a subpar team. If they had all their big guns, like Gerrard, they would have crushed us. You might think were better because were ranked higher in the FIFA rankings, but you get the same number of points for beating Argentina as you do for beating T&T, so you can't say that's fair. Im getting sick of everyone thinking we have such a great team that can compete in the worlds eliete. I wish we could an I think we will in 2010, but i think Italy and the Czechs will give everyone in the states a very rude awakening, which I hate to say.
Also to say Mikey Owen is overrated is just plain stupid. He is a legend and will be for years to come. He's a great player who has plenty of skills not just speed. He can drible and is actually very strong against bigger defenders. Just watch the goal he scored against Arsenal in the FA cup final in 2001...vintage Owen....vintage World Class.

LOL!
It is always England were playing with a second team.
As if the USA had their best team available.
We know.
Wednesday, Germany will be playing with their Z team, and USA will be playing with their best players of all time.
LOL!
I find it funny that friendlies all of a sudden mean something when your team wins, but never mean a thing when you lose.
Once again, Owen is a good player, not a great world class player who is a top player at his position.
Sorry some of us have our own opinions, based off of our observations. Not all of us believe what we are told to believe.
