My condolences are with everyone related with the loss at Woodlawn.
When a loss of life happens, then soccer has absolutely no relevance whatsoever. I dont take into account any of performances from the Woodlawn players. I just note that some of them were willing to go ahead with a scheduled game. Credit to them for being strong for doing that. No shame AT ALL on the other players who were paying their respects.

My sentiments exactly. The thoughts and prayers of SJA's parents and players go out to all at Woodlawn. We wish everyone the best and we are very proud of all the girls who played and those who were out.

OFFSIDES, by my unofficial count there have been 61 posts and 29 are attributable to Woodlawn parents. By my math that's about 50%. The total count is more than 61 but I only counted SOCCERROUGE'S standings update as one although he has updated more than that. I assume your point was that Woodlawn parents post to much. I agree. When I started the thread it was to be a source of information concerning the whole district. Please tell us all about your team.

What happened was sad and tragic, everyone who the Coach will feel a great loss. My comment before had nothing to do with the tragedy, but how Woodlawn compete with the ability that the School has to offer the team. I was just saying you cannot complain about another School or Coaches decision making, it does'nt change anything. Praise the work rate and commitment of your team, not the sportsmanship or lack of from anothers. I am sorry if you think I was disrespecting your team or School especially in this time of grieving.....

CERTACITO, your apology is accepted. I never thought you were disrespectful but I only hope you don't think we were making excuses for anything. One thing we know how to do at Woodlawn is to lose soccer games. I wasn't going to reply to this as I'm under scrutiny for posting too much although in looking back I'm thanking others and answering direct questions for many of my posts. Forums such as this are about every bodies opinions. You are entitled to yours as much as I am entitled to mine......I only took issue with you as you implied that we were making excuses and that that is something we routinely do......honestly, we don't. We know how to lose. Please talk about your team........

There seems to be a lot of strong feelings on the subject of 1 game who's outcome was not in question by any knowledgeable High School soccer fan in the Baton Rouge area. Calling the Parkview/Woodlawn game a friendly last night under the circumstances that is was played, was quite far from the truth. It appears from what I see people post on different threads within this forum that "Woodlawn parents' have a variety of opinions on subjects other than their own school. Certacito I did not see the score posted in the paper, which is usually the responsibility of the winning side. Was it too embarassing to anounce outside of this forum. Eleven girls decided that they should honor a commitment made by their school to play a scheduled game, in spite of what had happened earlier in the day. I don't recall any excused made. With the 5 missing starters plus the injury seven minutes into the game of a sixth, Woodlawn asked players that hadn't seen more than 10 minutes of playing time all year to step out and play against a team that should go very deep into the playoffs. Trade your group of defenders (you only get a sweeper and one outside fullback, plus 2 freshmen with very little playing time before last night) and your Goalkeeper. What would the score have been? Daniel Johnson cast a mighty big shadow, but I doubt she would have been much more successful then the other #4 last night Allison Myluis. Your midfielders and fullbacks were having a contest to see who would try to head the balls out of the air, by the way there weren't a lot of takers.
From the length of this discussion I must assume no one attended what should have been one of the better games in the Baton Rouge Area this season. Was no one there?

Yes, there were fans there (for both sides). About ten minutes into the first half, SJA's Mallory Hitt scored. It wasn't her best shot but we took the lead and were pumped. We stayed with BRHS for a while, but with our defenders getting very little rest against the tuff offense of BRHS - we couldn't hold on. BRHS came back in the second half with 3 points and in my opinion would have been worse if they had had Benson on the field. Whoever their #18 and # 8 is ..... they should get some praise. They were great...fast, sharp, great ball skills. You really can't knock their team as a whole.

Anyone know the score to the St. Amant vs. Walker game from Tuesday?

Thank you justme. I hope this is what this thread was started for, so that those that attended one game can find out what happened in the others within the district. Difficult to watch your team play and see someone else in the district, when both play at the same time. I would think St Amant won handlely, but you can never be sure. Wish someone would now give us some insite into how that game went also.

Would rather have seen the game played, but then with the funeral today, there was some question of the mental/emotional state of the players. Like the Hurricanes that pasted through the state last year and jumbled so many lives, this tragedy has done the same for students and faculty at Woodlawn High. This past Fall Coach Acosta had instituted an after school tutoring for anyone in the school, with the admonishion to the coaches of all sports that if a student was at tutoring instead of practice he/she was to be excused. He truly cared for all the students in the school. That is why even the basketball game, along with girl's visit to St Amant tonight has been canceled Continue to prayer for the Acosta family, and all of those he left behind, Coach acosta made a large impression on a lot of people not only at Woodlawn but New Orleans where he coached also .

Mandeville Skippers, but was held at Covington Youth Soccer Assn fields.
Final was Mandeville - East Ascension 0-0 and then Mandy won 4-1 on PKs. Good final, rough and ready and on tired legs, bit of a defensive stalemate with neither keeper having to make the great save, though Mandy did hit the side netting once.

SOCCERROUGE.....continued thanks for a great job in posting scores and schedules. While not at the top of most peoples list, the battle to escape the cellar takes place this week in district play with the Walker/Central match-up. One of the teams will notch their first victory in district. The only foreseeable problem is how will anyone know?

Don't forget the White Division at the Mandeville Tournament which was won by the SJA freshmen team 1-0 over Fountainebleau. SJA didn't allow a goal all day!
