. Real game of the district to see is thursday night SHHS v DHS. I think you are correct, it should be a good matchup, always has been a classic battle for the past 7 years. Hopefully our girls are up to the task, see you in DeRidder!

Well team, it's nice to see everyone is back. I must agree that the SHHS / Peabody game was not much of a match up, but Peabody showed up and never quit. We must all remember it is there first year and we have all been there. Thanks for comming to the Bluff. Tomorrows game should be a good one. I will be there with the phone and ready to cheer. My girls insist on it. I hope it is a good clean match and everyone has fun. Have a blessed evening and I will see you there.

Agreed SWLAsoccerfan, very emotional, physical and extremely intense game. The winning score came with just about 2 minutes left in the first overtime. Best of luck to SHHS as well, see you in the bluff.

Tioga 17 Peabody 0. You have to give it to Peabody's Coach and the girls' team. They are having some problems their first year in District but they don't give up. Tioga had 45 shots on goal and the keeper worked hard.
Tioga's Coach played all of his subs, tried girls in different positions and finished the last 15 minutes of the game with 6 girls on the field.
Scoring was Julie Jones 3 goals, Nicky Parker 2 goals 1 assist, Tori Munsterman 4 goals, Joyce Cummings 1 goal 1 assist, Whitley Aswad 1 goal, Morgan Burlew 6 goals 3 assists.
Congrats to DHS on their win tonight. OT games seem to be the name of the game in our District this season.
Anyone know what the results of the Pineville vs. Leesville game was?

The Tioga coach just proved how big of an idiot he is. He runs up the score to 17 and puts six girls on the field. Thats just ridiculous and he made himself look silly. He needs to learn to coach and show some class.

17-0? Thats just unforgivable. If UNC played Tioga they wouldn't even do that. I guess Tioga is out of the runnin for the Sportsmanship award.

Just how old are you Rooney -- 12? Name calling is a bit juvenile, don't you think?

Jus4kicks...Rooney is right...17 is a bit much. and that is an understatement. especially for a first year program, that is ridiculous.

My only comment was that name callling was juvenile. I understand that that 17 is a bit much, but Tioga played all of the subs and mixed up positions. What else could they do? Were you at the game?

whether you disagree or agree, with a weak program, sometimes high scores are inevitable, yes, 17 seems a bit much, but who knows what went on unless you were at the game. Case in point, my son plays crossroads, and when his team got up by 5 or 6, they either passed back or could only score outside the 18 or in the box with headers only. Still scoring is going to happen if a team is that weak, and the only way they will learn and grow is for teams to play full force against them. I don't agree with 6 on the field, we did that once and the coach asked us to play full squad and aggressive, because that is how a weaker teams learns. Its a lose lose situation when you are on the winning side of a score like that because there will be 2nd guessing always. The plus side for the stronger teams would be that is a good time to practice defense, passing and touches. Good luck to all in District. Peaboy, hang in there, and it can only get better and your program will grow from it.

A 17-0 win over a first year program doesn't say much for Tioga. Peabody is trying to develop a program with girls who probably never played soccer before or have very little experience. Getting beaten by that kind of score can be very disheartening. Seems like several years ago Tioga was in the same situation, getting beaten by some lop-sided scores but I don't believe that bad. Tioga has turned their program around as witnessed by their wins over ASH, DHS and their finish last year in District. But to allow such a lop-sided score doesn't say much about what they've learned. Just scoring numbers in a single game or against a weak opponent doesn't or shouldn't win awards.

The Town Talk report states that Morgan Burlew scored 6 of the goals and only five other players scored. Unlike the Sam Houston coach's report when he played Peabody, it doesn't sound like Tioga's JV played 75% of the game. Having watched high school soccer for a lot of years, NO ONE ever beat Tioga by that kind of score, yet "I'mthebackseatcoach" and Coach Walked have bemoaned the fact in years past the Tioga was treated like a "whipping boy" . As a parent that has watched games to support a child on the bench, it sounds as if this could have been a great opportunity for newer, weaker, or more inexperienced players to have had a chance to get on the field. At what point did the Tioga coach go down to six players and any team fielding any less than seven players in a game is a FORFEIT.

Town Talk says Pineville 2- Leesville 1
17-0 is a bit much, and one should consider the effect on a new program. You want to encourage competition, not make these girls want to quit. Last year, when Pharris put 3 goals on Leesville in the first 10 minutes, Coach Randy took her out, and the only time she returned was on defense. He put defenders at forward, and let all the JV/bench players in. I note SH held it to 10-0 against Peabody, with 9 players scoring, which shows they called off the dogs early.

There are right and wrong ways to handle a situation like that. Mung, sounds like your coach handled it well last year. As I stated before, times like that are good times to practice skills, and give people a chance to play positions that thay normally don't get to play in a close match.
