ASH 2 SHHS 0... SHHS dominated the vast majority of the game, but just could not find the back of the net. I could swear the goal was as big as a coffee cup tonight. Had several 1-1's and miss hit or goalie got to first, hit the post, even beat the goalie with a shot only to have a defender there to clear it out. But must give credit to ASH defense for holding off the onslaught for the whole game. For those that don't know #9 Phariss is fast and good. SHHS's goalie had an incredible game. I know the score doesn't show it, but she made several professional calliber saves tonight. I feel sorry for my girls, but that's how they fall sometimes. Good luck to ASH in the rest of the year.

ASH at Sam Houston, Monday, Dec. 11, 7pm. Mung...Where were you? I went to the game to meet ya and asked a few ASH parents and no one claimed to be the famous Mung!! I was sorry to miss that, but I had to be in Jonesboro yesterday, then keep my 10 y/o while mom got to go see the game. I hear it was ASH's best game so far. Miller #21 scored early in the first period, and Meredith McCullen#7 scored the final goal in the second. Pharris has actually been suffering from foot injury and is playing thru it. What happened to #10 Littleton for SH? I thought she was a junior last year.

Erica Littleton injured her ankle at the St Louis tournament during Thanksgiving and again last week. She did play last night but was 50% at best. Late in the game she was helped off the field with her ankle bothering her. She is a Sr this year along with 90% of Sam Houston's starters (9 srs and 2 jrs).

I hate that for her. She's a fantastic player, and to be injured in your senior season is really disappointing. My oldest struggled with an ankle injury last year in her senior season, and her sister blew her ACL. You can't dominate on bad wheels. I hope Ms. Littleton gets back up to speed quickly and finishes well. She has some potential to play at the next level.

Ton of shots taken by both teams and stops by both keepers/defenders. 18 shots on goals by my figure. 18 saves by Queen for ASH/ 16 saves by Sam Houston keeper. Those counts don't take in wide, overhead or out of play.

ASH defense did amazing last night. Lindsay Pharris holds the offense together, but last night was the defense's game. Melanie Queen had a great game and had some great saves. Lauren Williams seemed to be all over the place, everytime SHHS had a run she was always there to block the ball. Kacey Mcdowell looked good too.
I heard from some of the girls that SHHS was ranked number 5 in the state?

I would think after two district losses they might fall a bit next week, but you never know.

She socred the game winner with roughly 2 minutes to go in OT, same as in the Tioga game.

ASH plays in the Tioga Tourney this weekend, vs. Tioga Reserve Friday night at 8:30p; Saturday vs. Leesville 9am; vs. Op Cath 11:15am. I hope the starters get some rest for the game Monday. They play district games vs. Deridder at home 6:30 or 7pm, Monday, 12/18; and at Leesville, 5pm, Thursday 12/21.

imthebackseatcoach - it is always a no win situation with this - either you should have killed or you didn't. How do you tell young players to hold back, is it disrespectful to the other team to pull all of your kids but 6 from the field? To try and help - have the others go back to the thread I started on 2/4/06 - about page 10 on this site - and have them look at the answers from coaches and players alike. Just trying to help.

DeRidder's schedule in the Tioga tournament is West Monroe Fri @ 7; Glenmora Sat @ 9 and Peaboy @ 11:15. Same here Mung about getting starters rested for Mon night! DHS @ ASH Mon. night and Peabody @ home Thurs. night. I haven't heard anything about several of the teams coming this weekend, anyone?

Just a minor point, why do you guys never play on Saturdays. You are like Bats playing under the lights every game:) I presume it is a district or school policy, but sometimes our better crowds are on those (slightly) warmer Saturday mornings.
Good luck to all.

Good question Pompey, we used to once upon a time, but haven't in quite a few years. Thanks and good luck to your girls as well.

Saturdays are for hunting and fishing, Pompey. Plus, we're like LSU in that we play better after dark. Actually, with the two hour travel time to Sam Houston, last year ASH played them on Saturdays. This year, only tourney games on weekends. We all play rec against each other on Saturdays earlier in the year, so I like to free up my Saturdays later in the year.

Well, you could play one game on Saturdays, but when is the next one. Generally Tuesdays and Fridays are basketball, Wednesday is church night which only leaves Monday and Thursday's. Now if you play on Saturday, you only have one day of rest between two games. The system seems to work out best this way, and you don't have to worry about getting sunburned.

Please post your district games for this week, and if everyone could check your records on the first page to see if they are correct.
DHS @ ASH monday should be a good contest after just facing each other Sat in the tournament Peabody @ DHS Thursday.
