Deridder 4 - ASH 3 in 2OT. Miller(21) scored early for ASH on a hard shot that went thru the goalie's hands. DHS quickly tied it on a simlar shot that could have been handled by the ASH goalie. DHS #10 scored the second goal on a fantastic direct kick awarded from outside the box. ASH defender KC McDowell had stolen the ball from her sister #7, who ran into KC and fell down, so questionable call by the ref there. ASH quickly responded when #35 Reynolds dribbled a ball in after DHS goalie failed to maintain control of a rebound. DHS next goal came on a corner kick that hit the ASH goalie in the hands and popped thru and was poked in. ASH tied on a melee in front of the goal that got scrummed in. DHS attacked furiously to end the game, and shot one off the post, but ASH defenders and goalie Queen made some great saves to keep it tied. No score in 1st OT, then in second with about 3 minutes left DHS awarded corner on ball that was out on them. My pointing this out to side judge from stands had no effect. #10 Coronel made 'em pay with a masterful bending drive to the far post that ASH defenders weren't tall enough to head out. Pretty good game by both teams, and evidence that this district is Deridder's, followed by 3 way scramble for second. Deridder's #10 is scary on set pieces, with at least three goals or assists resulting from her shots.

pretty sure you can't get PKs outside of the box

fpgunner: Right you are. It was actually a direct kick out of the box.

district standings look strange. Shouldn't Leesville and or Pabody be 1-3 and the other 0-4?

if and when someone reports thier scores to me, i can update, until then, i can't do anything. If everyone would look at thier standings and verify for me, I would appreciate it. I also need Pineville-Tioga for last night. Thanks everyone for your help keeping me updated and straight, as I need all the help I can get!

Tioga 3 Pineville 0
Tioga's keeper Brittany Aswad only had 3 shot on goal to save while at the other end of the field Pineville's keeper only let in 3 of the 26 shots on her goal.
#8 Morgan Burlew had a hat trick with her signature shot outside the 18 over the keeper's head and into the back corner. #21 Tori Munsterman had 2 assists.
Despite being in second place behind DeRidder, Tioga has the best defensive record with only 2 goals scored against them in District. In the Lady's Choice tournament this past weekend the Lady Indians played 318 minutes of soccer and let in only 1 goal, the last minute of the 2nd OT in the final against DeRidder.

Interesting scoring going on in district. If I am correct, through last night, Marisol Coronel has 8 goals (4 vs P'ville, 1 vs Tioga, 1 vs SHHS and 2 vs ASH) Burlew has 12 goals (3 vs P'ville, 1 vs ASH, 2 vs Leesville and 6 vs Peabody).

Morgan Burlew actually has 12 goals in district, with 4 assists. Who else is scoring for DeRidder? I know Lydia has scored as well as Marisol, but I am not sure who else.
We have 7 starters and 2 substitutes who have scored so far this season:
Burlew, Wing, 12 goals, 4 assists, overall 17 and 8 Tori Munsterman, Mid, 4 goals, 2 assists, overall 9 and 2 Julie Jones, Central Striker, 3 goals, 5 overall, Nicky Parker, Wing, 4 goals, 1 assist, overall 5 and 1 Joyce Cummings, Wing, 1 goal, 1 assist, overall 3 and 1 Whitley Aswad, Mid, 1 goal, 1 overall Michelle Campbell, Mid, overall 2 goals Megan Robbins, Mid, overall 1 goal Tomonica McQueen, Sweeper, overall 3 goals
That's pretty evenly distributed among the team.
Please note I had to modify goals - I was out of town for a game and had to get the stats from another coach, and I had not yet posted the Leesville game stats. Stats for Burlew, Parker and McQueen changed with those games included.

Mung I am not sure its fair to say that this district is DeRidders yet nobody knows better than me that a bounce, break or call the other way and Tioga ASH or Sam Houston would have another win and we would have a loss. There is a lot of soccer left to play

I have to agree with mswilb. Yes Deridder is undefeated so far, but three of those games have gone to OT or 2OT with shots in the last half of all three OT periods of those games for the win. If anything, I think that the playing field is pretty level. ASH's other loss was OT to Tioga. The games I have seen (not only ASH) have been fun to watch. Leesville Thursday night, bring your waterwings. Sounds like a rainy night.

I am in agreement as well. I think its going to go down to the wire. I just don't know if my heart can take too many more of those games! I think instead of the Dragons, they need to be called the cardiac kids for what they are doing to thier poor coach and parents! We still love them , so go Lady Dragons!

Just thought I'd let everyone know that Crossroads Coach and Louisiana College Head Men's and Women's Coach Derek Godwin has been awarded the Louisiana Soccer Associations Coach of the Year Award and is now up for US Youth Soccer Regional Coach of the Year. It was Derek who coached at ASH and Bolton in the early 90's along with former ASH Coach Mike Vajcner (then Crossroads President) and Bolton Coach Joe McGinty (Crossroads High School girls commissioner) who got girls High School soccer recognized by the Rapides Parish School Board back in 1995, I believe. The presentation will take place at the LSA winter AGM January 7th in Baton Rouge. Congratualtions Derek.

Congratulations! Very deserving of the honor. Girls soccer statewide, not just in Rapides Parish, owes quite a debt of gratitude to Derek for getting us all recognized in an area that is dominated by male sports.

As far as central LA goes, there is no one more deserving. It is great the rest of the state and possibly the nation appreciates what Derek has brought to the sport of soccer. Announcer is an asset to the ASH games.

DeRidder over Peabody 6-0. It was 8 on 8 for part of the game, then 7 on 7 when one of thier girls got hurt. It started raining at halftime and the whole 2nd half was just plain soggy! JV played the majority of the game, with a few starters sprinkled in here and there. Lots of passing going on and it was a good chance for the JV players to get some work. Hats off to Peabody, they played hard the whole game.
On a different note, Happy Holidays to everyone. Be safe and see you all in the new year!

Sounds like Deridder and Peabody had the same weather as ASH and Leesville. Soggy game to sit through. Looked like the girls on the field had fun in the mud. ASH won 3-2. Merry Christmas to everyone. Travel safely, if you are on the road this week.

Ha Ha ya'll had it good then... SHHS boys got lost on the way to the game so boys game that was to start at 5 started about 6 and our game was pushed back till as soon as they finished. We got rain before, during, and after (it didn't stop once we showed up) not to mention having to play right after the boys who tore the field up pretty bad. I would say there was at least an inch of standing water on the field the whole game. Typical wet weather game. Try to pass or dribble and ball goes no where try to chip ball skips and runs too far. Final score was SHHS 5 Pineville 0.
P.S. Merry Christmas everybody! Have a safe holiday.
