Tioga's coach did question the referee when he told the teams to retake the field. Our parents were already picking up their things because they had asked what happened next and I had stated we would play 1 10 minute overtime and if the score did not change we would then proceed. We all thought the game was over because the score after 10 minutes was 4-3, Tioga's favor. There were two new referees for this game we later found out. Because we coach rec and high school we have to really stay on top of which rules apply where. When we first started high school we had more than one occasion where we confused the rules and you are correct - a Coach SHOULD know what rules apply where. However, how far do you question the referee on the field? We did not feel this was a judgment call but an error in use of rules. We chose to take this to the LHSAA and should receive a ruling in our favor Rule 17.9.2.2 was violated in this particular game.

I guess someone had to be the guinea pig. We spoke with other coaches who had actually discussed what they would do if this ever happened to them, so even if it does not go in our favor, hopefully a precedent will be set and a clarification of the rules will be recorded.

Got a call from our principal this morning and the LHSAA has in fact ruled that the game was played in violation of rule 17.9.2.2. Tioga was awarded the win because after the first 10 minute overtime period we were ahead 4-3.
With the win last night against Pineville 4-2 Tioga's District record is now 5-1. Not bad for a team that before this year had never won a single girls' district game since soccer began at the school in the late 80's.
Rivalry played a huge part of the game against Pineville and Tioga missed a lot of shots that should have been put away. A lot of offsides and fouls went uncalled and it was a pretty physical game on both sides. Goals scored were Morgan Burlew 1 and 1 assist, Julie Jones 2, Megan Robbins 1, Tori Munsterman 1 assist
#14 and #30 scored for Pineville and #3 had an assist
Also, in the Town Talk article Megan Robbins, #13 was identified in the photograph as Kerri Brown, #3. Megan is an up and coming Freshman who scored her first goal ever against Pineville last night.

Yea, I am out there still, came home from the game with a sick headache, even felt too bad to post that we won and my daughter score the game winning goal ;D
Game shouldn't have been near close, our girls took it for granted that in 7 years they have never lost to Leesville and almost did. They are a very physical team, way too much pushing and showing was allowed to go on, thought not an excuse for the score. I see where we lost to Tioga now, so our girls have thier work cut out for them. Its rough to have one taken away a week after it was over, but life goes on. Hopefully it made our girls resolve stronger. I guess we will see next week. Good luck against Sam Houston Sat.

dhssoccermom25, We also found that Leesville was not the pushover we found them to be just since the first game of the season. They are definitely a physical team. The fact that they scored on ASH, DeRidder and Tioga shows marked improvement. Sorry about you having to give up the game to Tioga, but it makes sense that we all follow LHSAA rules.

I saw in the LC paper that ASH lost to Sam Houston 2-1 in OT. Any game details?

I watched the first half of ASH v SH, which went scoreless. No really great chances on goal for either team. Not much ball control and lots of back and forth kicking. In the second half, ASH went up 2-0, but the second goal was called back for a questionable offsides(did not see it, so can't really tell). SH tied it, and scored quickly off the kickoff in the first overtime period, which completely deflated ASH's sails.

ASH 3 DeRidder 1 good hard fought game by both teams. Close the whole way, 3rd goal was scored with under 2 minutes to go. Not sure who scored for ASH, Parker scored the lone DeRidder goal.
